Delegates cast votes to elect leadership in NC unlike in UML: Gen Secy aspirant Thapa

List prepared by party's head carries no meaning in the NC

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gagan Thapa has remarked that delegates to the general convention elect the leadership in the party through votes.

Thapa, an aspirant for the post of NC General Secretary from presidential candidate Dr. Shekhar Koirala’s panel in NC’s 14th general convention, addressing a press meet held Sunday evening, said, “In the CPN-UML, delegate waited to endorse the list prepared by party’s head. However, it isn’t the case in the NC.”

“In the NC, delegates vote to determine leadership unlike in the UML,” he clarified.

He said that list prepared by the party chief, as in the 10th general convention of the UML, carried no meaning in the NC’s 14th general convention.
