KATHMANDU: Former Minister and lawmaker Hridayesh Tripathi is to form a new political party. The name of Tripathi’s party will be Janata Pragatisheel Party.

“We will announce the party by holding a program in Kathmandu on Tuesday,” Tripathi told media on Sunday.

The new party also has another lawmaker Brijesh Kumar Gupta.

Tripathi had won the seat of lower house of parliament after contesting 2017 elections under the CPN-UML election symbol Sun. Likewise, Gupta also won the election from Kapilvastu under the UML’s Sun symbol.

Though both the lawmakers legally represent UML in the parliament, they were not active in the party. They had been working by forming independent political groups.
