NC President and PM weakening party, democracy: Leader Koirala

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has said that the party is being weakened due to the Prime Minister and party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Inaugurating Nona Koirala Memorial Foundation in Biratnagar Tuesday, NC central member Koirala accused Prime Minister Deuba and the Chief Justice of colluding to weaken democracy. He said appointment of a Minister through the nexus of the Chief Justice and Prime Minister had hampered democratic values.

He remarked that as Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gajendra Bahadur Hamal resigned after controversy arose concerning his appointment, the same was not demonstrated by NC President Deuba.

Stating that the NC needed to form a government in Province 1, Koirala said that it could not happen due to Prime Minister Deuba. He added that other parties were getting to be in power due to party president.
