PM Deuba says ‘Ask main opposition leader regarding parliament obstruction’

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said the main opposition CPN-UML was obstructing the parliament and should take responsibility for it.

After the parliament session ended and while PM Deuba was on his way out of the parliament building Saturday, a reporter asked PM Deuba for how long would the parliament last in this manner. PM Deuba told him to ask Oli. “Ask Oli,” he replied.

Even though the session sat for two times Sunday, it was postponed till Tuesday without entering the agenda due to UML’s obstruction.

UML has been obstructing the parliament citing the role of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota in UML split. UML leaders have been accusing the government of not taking any initiative to run the parliament.

Speaker Sapkota held discussion with Law Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki and UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai, Whip Shanta Chaudhary and lawmaker Khagraj Adhikari on Sunday afternoon. However, the discussion was not fruitful.
