Newly-appointed CM KC and ministers take oath in Lumbini

KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC and ministers have been sworn in to office in Lumbini Province.

Chief of Lumbini Amik Sherchan administered the oath of office and secrecy to CM KC and CM KC administered the same to six ministers at the Office of the Chief of Province in Butwal Thursday.

After the resignation of Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel on Wednesday, the province governor invited parties to form a new government. With the support of 41 lawmakers from the Nepali Congress (NC), the CPN-Maoist Center, the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and the Rastriya Janamorcha, KC staked claim for government formation and was appointed the Chief Minister earlier Thursday.

CM KC immediately expanded the cabinet after being appointed.

The ministers in KC’s cabinet are NC’s Dilli Ram Chaudhary (Ministry of Urban and Rural Development), Maoist Center’s Krishna Dhoj Khadka (Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning), JSP’s Sahasram Yadav (Ministry of Physical Infrastructure). Likewise, JSP’s Purmati Denga and Suman Sharma Rayamajhi and independent Ajay Shahi have been made ministers without portfolio.
