KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Rajendra Mahato has said the country’s governance and constitution should be based along the lines of a multi-national state.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the Young Indigenous League, an organization close to the JSP, in Kathmandu Thursday, leader Mahato said the rights of the backward people could not be ensured until a multi-national state was formed.

He said the backward people could not get their rights as problems rose due to the idea of a single national state. He added people were still left behind though the country has had seven constitutions.

He said although the previous government adopted the slogan of “Happy Nepalis, Prosperous Nepal”, it did not act for realization of the idea.

JSP leaders said the Yong Indigenous League was formed with the view to establish Nepal as a multinational state.
