Current govt increased number of vaccinated from 4.2 to 7.5 mln, says Health State Minister Shrestha



KATHMANDU: Minister of State for Health and Population Umesh Shrestha has said the incumbent government increased the number of citizens receiving vaccination to 7.5 million from 4.2 million.

Speaking at the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting in Federal Parliament building in New Baneshwor on Thursday, Health State Minister Shrestha said the previous government managed altogether 9.7 million vaccines till mid-July (end of the last fiscal) and of them, only 4.2 million were used to vaccinate the citizens.

According to Minister Shrestha, around 150,000 to 200,000 citizens were being vaccinated on a daily basis currently, and the government had secured 10.8 million vaccines that would be delivered by mid-October.

He added the government prioritized various sectors contributing to the economy and selected districts where virus case are high in the vaccination campaign.
