Secretary Aryal assumes office at CIT Ministry

KATHMANDU: Secretary at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Dr Baikuntha Aryal has stressed making the government media more organized and competitive.

Addressing a program organized at the Ministry to welcome him, Secretary Dr Aryal spoke of the need of rendering efficient the policy provisions and the regulatory framework required for making the mass communication sector independent, dignified and competitive.

He said attention should be paid to cybersecurity aspects for enhancing people’s trust towards information technology for making the life of the people easier through expansion of information technology.

Secretary Aryal shared that the required policy arrangements would be made for enhancing the quality of Nepal Telecom’s services, making the postal service competitive, and expanding the scope of work of the Department of Printing. He also stressed making timely reforms in the Digital Nepal Framework, expanding the broadband internet service and the information highway, and on the effective implementation of the digital signature.

Dr Aryal, who joined the civil service in 2049 BS from the Section Officer level, has worked in various government agencies including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the Office of the Prime Minister, and the Council of Ministers.

The Council of Ministers had recently transferred him to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. He took charge of his office today.

Joint-Secretary Dilliram Sharma briefed about the works the Ministry has been carrying out and envisaged to carry out in the coming days in the mass communication, telecommunication, and film sectors.

He expressed the confidence that the Ministry would be able to carry out its works more effectively with the arrival of a capable, experienced and skilled person as the Secretary at the Ministry.

On the occasion, the chiefs and senior officials at the Ministry and bodies under it had wished Secretary Dr Aryal a successful term in office.
