NC Deuba faction’s district presidents meet after Poudel faction’s

To meet PM Deuba and Poudel today

KATHMANDU: Following the meeting of district presidents loyal to the Poudel faction, other district presidents close to party President of Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba have started holding a meeting in Lalitpur on Thursday morning.

Participating in the meeting, Bhaktapur District President Durlav Thapa said that they are holding discussions to dispel confusion about the General Convention and the party leadership.

Thapa said discussions are underway on how to make the convention systematic and successful. “We are holding discussions on how to create conducive environment for district level conventions,” he said, adding, “Our discussion is not against any leaders or factions, but about how to make the convention a success.”

The district presidents close to the establishment are preparing to meet party President Prime Minister Deuba and senior leader Poudel today and request them to stop holding gatherings that would inhibit the general convention from taking place.

A meeting of district chairpersons close to senior leader Poudel had accused the leadership of not intending to hold the convention, thereby jeopardizing the party’s legitimacy.
