KATHMANDU: CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has welcomed the Supreme Court decision to restore parliament and remarked that the verdict has saved the constitution, parliament and democracy.

UML leader Nepal is one of the key leaders of the opposition alliance formed against Prime Minister KP Oli.

“Parliament is not the only institution to be affected by the Supreme Court decision,” he said responding to the court’s Monday verdict, adding, “It has also protected the constitution and democracy and given life to them again. ”

He said that the decision has enhanced its dignity.

“There was some ambiguity in the constitution. But that has also been explained ‘, Nepal said.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the lawmakers who cross the floor to form the government under Article 76 (5) of the Constitution should not be subject to disciplinary action from their party.
