Nepal-Khanal faction dissatisfied with task-force deal, calls CC meeting

KATHMANDU: The Nepal-Khanal faction of the ruling CPN-UML is holing a central committee (CC) meeting today.

The disgruntled faction has called the CC meeting to dwell on the consensus deal sealed by the UML Dispute Resolution Task Force on Sunday night.

Many lawmakers loyal to Nepal-Khanal faction have taken serious exception to the deal reached by the taskforce on Sunday night.

Reacting to the deal, central member Ram Kumari Jhankri said they will not withdraw the signatures signed in support of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba stating that the withdrawal of signatures will affect the Supreme Court’s verdict.

Senor Leader Madhav Nepal in a Facebook message on Monday morning, flayed the agreement saying that the interpretations and comments of the deal at a time when the writ petition on the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) is sub-judice in the court will not be acceptable.

The CC meeting will be held virtually, said leader Rajendra Rai. The taskforce on Sunday night sealed a 10-point deal to thrash out the long-standing differences of the UML.
