UML holding Standing Committee meeting today

Meeting to take place at 5 pm



KATHMANDU: Ruling CPN-UML is holding a Standing Committee (SC) meeting at 5 pm today.

The SC meeting called by the UML at 4 pm Sunday had been postponed till Monday.

UML Central Office Secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang confirmed the cancellation and said the SC meeting would now take place at 5 pm Monday.

Earlier, the party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli called the meeting at 4 pm Sunday but leaders close to senior leader Madhav Nepal stated that they would not attend the meeting while the task force meeting was ongoing.

A meeting of the task-force formed to resolve intraparty disputes in the UML reached a conclusion late Sunday night.

The UML task force formed to resolve the intra-party dispute has endorsed a 10-point deal to immediately end the intra-party dispute and consolidate the party, sending a good message to party workers and well-wishers across the country.

Disputes had surfaced in the UML after Prime Minister KP Oli dissolved the House of Representatives on May 23 despite the formation of a 10-member task force on May 16 on the basis of consensus of UML Chairman Oli and senior leader Madhav Nepal.
