In-coming travelers getting tested

BAITADI: Travelers entering Baitedi are being tested for Coronavirus. More than 500 travelers have been tested since the measure took place on June 1.

A health desk has been established at Khodpe, where in-coming travelers are tested for Corona Virus through an antigen test, said Chief of the Health Office, Baitedi Yogesh Prasad Bhatta. Only four people have tested positive, among the 503 people tested so far, he said.

Those testing positive are isolated. As an effort to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus that has spiraled since the second wave of the pandemic, those coming into the district are being tested, said Chief District Officer Rajendra Dev Pandey.

Likewise, the prohibitory order in effect since June 1 has been made more stringent. The passenger vehicles coming into the district are allowed in only from 6 am to 7 pm, said CDO Pandey.

The health desk has been equipped with the necessary tools and supplies along with six health workers. A similar health desk has also been set up at the Jhulaghat transit point with India.

So far, 16 people have died of COVID-19 in the district. The prohibitory order has been extended to June 14.
