Monsoon begins in Nepal; heavy rain forecast today

KATHMANDU: With the advent of monsoon, various places are witnessing rains in the country today.

The monsoon has entered from the east of Nepal this morning, informed Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

The rain has started this year as soon as the monsoon entered the country, said Raju Pradhananga, a meteorologist.

A heavy rain is predicted in hilly regions of Pradesh 1, Bagmati Pradesh, and Karnali Pradesh, according to Pradhananga.

Currently, the vapory wind blowing from the Bay of Bengal is having impact on the weather system in the eastern and central party of the country and westerly and local winds are causing impact in the western region, said MFD.

The light rain amidst thunderstorms is predicted in many places of the country.  Similarly, heavy rains are likely to occur in few places of Gandaki Pradesh, Lumbini Pradesh and Karnali Pradesh. This weather pattern will continue until Sunday, according to a weather bulletin issued by the MFD this morning.
