Govt congratulates three sisters on successful ascent of Mt Everest



KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung has congratulated three sisters from the same family for summiting the highest mountain in the world-Sagarmatha (Mt Everest)- today morning.

Nima Jangbu Sherpa (30), Tshering Nyamgey Sherpa (26), and Dawa Phuti Sherpa (24) scaled the 8,848.86 meters mountain today morning.

They hail from Beding village of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-9 in Dolakha district.

Minister Gurung, talking to the RSS, said, “I am very delighted to share that three sisters from a single-family have been able to climb Sagarmatha.”

He wished the team all the best for their goal to set a new record by summiting all the highest mountains of each of the seven continents (popularly known as the Seven Summits) in the world within three years.”

Minister Gurung, also Spokesperson of the government, had handed over the national flag to the three-sister team and had bid them farewell on April 15 this year for their Sagarmatha expedition.
