As many as 667 succumb to coronavirus in a week



KATHMANDU: As many as 667 people have succumbed to coronavirus in Nepal in the last one week – from May 5 to May 11.

This is almost double the number of deaths in the last three weeks of April, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

A total of 359 people died of coronavirus between April 14 and May 4. The number of deaths in the Nepali month of Baisakh has reached 1,026 till Tuesday evening.

The number of deaths due to coronavirus has been increasing of late. Around 50 people have been dying on a daily basis on average since May 4.

Likewise, Nepal recorded 225 deaths related to COVID-19 in the last two days.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus deaths in Nepal has exceeded four thousand.

A total of 4,048 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus in the country as of Tuesday evening, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to doctors, the death toll from the second wave of coronavirus is much higher than in the first wave.
