NC lawmaker Thapa lambasts govt indifference towards unemployment issues

KATHMANDU: Main Opposition party in the parliament Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Thapa criticized the government for its indifference towards the employment problems Nepalis are facing.

Speaking at Monday’s meeting of House of Representatives in Kathmandu, NC youth leader Thapa lambasted the government for failing to show concern towards the suffering of Nepali people.

He also expressed concern about Nepali migrant workers stranded in the homeland.

“Around 10,500 people who have passed the language and skill test for employment in South Korea and 2,000 workers who have received job offers from abroad have been stranded in Kathmandu for months but the government seems unconcerned about the issue,” lawmaker Thapa said.

He alleged that the government has consistently ignored such workers and added, “If the government were to act like the governments of the Philippines and other countries, these people would have received jobs in Korea long before.”

Thapa demanded that the government should take concrete action and inform the parliament about the steps the government has taken in this regard.
