High time MCC was brought for discussion in Parliament: UML lawmaker Adhikari

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Khagaraj Adhikari has strongly asked the government to bring the issue of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) for discussion in the parliament.

Speaking during Monday’s zero hour of the House of Representatives (HoR), Adhikari demanded that the MCC be made a topic of debate in the parliament immediately.

“It’s been already more than three years since the MCC project has been in limelight,” he said adding, “The agreement was reached during the coalition government between the Nepali Congress and the Maoist Center.”

He said, “For how long do you want to linger it when it is already late?”

Lawmaker Adhikari said that the MCC has to be brought to the parliament for discussion.

He also alleged the political parties for turning MCC into a gambling den adding, “Parties should stop playing a double role now. Leaders speak in favor of MCC while in the opposition and hesitate to discuss in the parliament when they are in power,” he added.

“It is high time that MCC is discussed in the House,” lawmaker Adhikari said.
