No decision reached despite one-hour-long discussion between NC and JSP leaders

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Central Council of the Janata Samajwadi Party, Mahantha Thakur, had said his party was ready to move ahead on the basis of consensus with Nepali Congress (NC) and other parties.

Emerging out from a meeting with Nepali Congress leaders held at the NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence Friday, Thakur said no agreement was reached between the two parties on government formation.

“We discussed in detail the current political scenario and forming an alliance. However, no agreement has been reached with the NC since we need a broad discussion on the issue of government formation. We also need to hold discussions with the CPN (Maoist Center), Thakur said.

The leaders had a one-hour-long talk with the NC leaders.

According to him, they discussed in detail the possibility of going together. However, JSP leaders reiterated their demands of releasing Resham Chaudhary and other leaders who are behind bars.

“We are yet to forge a consensus yet,” he added.

Thakur said they would hold discussions with the leaders of the Maoist Center party.
