PM Oli should be toppled at any cost: NC leaders



KATHMANDU: General Secretary of Nepali Congress (NC) Dr. Shashank Koirala and influential leader Gagan Thapa have called for the ousting of Prime Minister KP Oli and the formation of a new government under NC leadership.

Addressing a program organized by Nepal Teacher’s Union, Bagmati Province Committee in Kathmandu, on Friday, the NC leaders said that the party should oust incumbent government and form a government under it.

“NC is still on wait and see condition; yet we have realized that we should oust the government for its unconstitutional and non-democratic activities,” NC General Secretary Koirala said, “We want NC to lead the government.”

He said that the party has intensified its talk with the prospective partners for alliance and had a talk with Janata Samajbadi Party on Friday.

Similarly, NC leader Thapa also stressed on the need of forming an NC led government.

“PM Oli has mutilated the constitution in many ways, it is up to NC to lead the government and patch the damages made by the incumbent government,” Thapa said.

He reiterated in the need to oust Oli instantly and form a government that can function for the remaining tenure of the parliament if possible.

He shared his conclusion that PM Oli is likely to misuse the power and weaken the democratic institution in every possible way; hence, the later should be ousted at the earliest.
