Constitution is under threat: Prachanda

BUTWAL: Chairman of Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has alleged some forces of conspiring to nullify the spirit of the Constitution.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the First National Conference of Dalit Community Journalists of Nepal in Butwal on Friday, Chairman Prachanda said that the reactionary and regressive forces are hatching conspiracies against the new achievements.

“Those who did not like republic, federalism, inclusiveness and proportional representation are trying to reverse those agendas established in the Constitution,” he said, adding, “As the only living witness of the commitments made to the people while signing the peace accord, I have greater responsibility to safeguard them.”

Prachanda claimed that he has got some hints of looming threats against the Constitution.

“There have been some cases of declaring the newly born baby unborn, this is not a good omen,” he said hinting at the Supreme Court verdict that nullified the unification of CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Center.

He appealed all to be prepared for a colorful revolution that aims to nurture inclusiveness, justice and empowerment to all backward groups and communities.
