KP Oli has assassinated democracy, claims Democratic Thought Society

KATHMANDU: As part of the civic warnings against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR), the Democratic Thought Society demonstrated against Prime Minister KP Oli’s ‘unconstitutional’ move of dissolution of HoR while lambasting PM Oli for “assassinating democracy”.

Speaking at a protest program organized by the Society, participants pointed out that the government has taken unconstitutional, undemocratic and totalitarian steps endangering the democracy and intruding on the fundamental rights ensured by the Constitution.

“Prime Minister KP Oli has taken unconstitutional, undemocratic and totalitarian steps one after another putting the fundamentals of the constitution at stake, hence, the democrats should move forward unitedly for the defense of democracy,” Chairman of the Democratic Thought Society, Dr. Kedar Nar Singh KC said.

Leaders of civic groups were present with placards with slogans ‘Ensure Rule of Law,’ ‘Protect Human Rights,’, ‘Stop Murder and Violence’, ‘Ensure Press Freedom’ etc.

Speaking in the citizen awareness program organized by the Society, Dr. Govinda KC remarked that the essence of democracy restored with the blood and sweat of the people is being intruded on by the government.

Dr. KC added that PM Oli has not only mutilated the constitution but murdered it brutally and the dissolution of the House is also for his nefarious interests.

He appealed to all democrats to oppose the dissolution and stand together to safeguard democracy and the constitution.
