Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane selected for IPL auction



KATHMANDU: Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been selected for the auction of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Season.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had recommended names of eight cricketers for the IPL auction to be held in Chennai on February 18.

Lamichhane had been selected for the IPL for the first time in 2017 at the base price of INR 2 million. He had recently been released after playing for three years representing Delhi Capitals. The current base price of Lamichhane for this season is INR 4 million.

Only three players including Lamichhane have been selected from associate regions for the auction. The other selected are Ali Khan from America and Karthik Meiyappan from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Two hundred and ninety two players have been selected out 1,114 who applied for the auction of IPL 2021 Season.

Of them, 164 are from India itself, 125 are foreigners while three are from associate regions.
