Loader of Chinese construction company crushes child to death in Siraha



KATHMANDU: A child has been crushed to death by a loader belonging to a Chinese construction company in Dhangadhimai Municipality-9 of Siraha along the East-West Highway.

The deceased has been identified as local Siddharth Moktan, 9, son of Sanjeev Moktan.

The child was playing near the parked loader when the loader driver suddenly operated the vehicle and drove it forward without looking at what lay ahead. The minor was crushed and died on the spot.

After the incident, the locals vandalized the Chinese loader and blocked the highway. The locals demanded action against the absconding driver and compensation to the victim’s family.

The highway obstructed from 4 pm was resumed after 6 pm after DSP of Lahan Area Police Office Dr. Tapan Kumar Dahal reached the incident site and assured the locals of taking action against the driver and providing compensation to the victim’s family.

Thousands of vehicles were stranded when the highway was blocked.
