Shashank Koirala rejects NC President Deuba’s offer for the post of Vice-President



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala has rejected Prime Minister and party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s proposal to be the Vice-President of his camp.

According to Dr. Koirala’s personal secretary Bharat Tiwari, General Secretary Koirala rejected the request of President Deuba to join his team taking the post of vice-president.

Tiwari informed that General Secretary Koirala is preparing to run for central member. Earlier, he was aspiring for the post of party President; however, he withdrew his announcement to vie for the party’s head for ‘consensus’ in the party.

Initially, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Prakash Man Singh and Ram Chandra Poudel along with Dr. Shashank had demanded for the chairmanship, but now the matter is stuck between Dr. Shekhar and Singh.

Meanwhile, Prakash Man is holding a rally at Yalambar Party Palace in Ramshahpath and announcing his candidature for the post. Former Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala has also announced her candidacy for the post of Vice-President from leader Singh’s panel.
