Over 20 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered



KATHMANDU: The government has been accelerating the vaccination drive against COVID-19 and has already administered 20,234,822 doses of the vaccines to various target groups to date.

According to Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, joint spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, among the beneficiaries, 11,066,464 received the first dose while 9,168,358 were fully vaccinated.

The government has been providing around 200,000 doses of vaccine on a daily basis lately to bring as many as target groups under the ambit of the drive. A total of 329,321 people were administered the vaccine last Friday alone.

Nepal first rolled out its COVID-19 vaccination drive on January 24 this year. The government has been procuring vaccines under the COVAX program.

Among the target group, 55.5 percent of people got the first dose while 46 percent were fully vaccinated, said joint Spokesperson Adhikari.

Dr Adhikari shared that while the government aims to vaccinate 19,922,164 people, a total of 29,453,730 doses of the vaccines have been imported as of now.
