One dead, seven injured in road accident



JHAPA: A person died and seven others were injured in a road accident at Tribenichowk of Baradashi Rural Municipality-3 in Jhapa district today morning.

The deceased has been identified as Pramodchandra Uprety,34, of Bhagudubba from Baradashi Rural Municipality-1 in the district, according to District Police Office (DPO), Jhapa.

A spokesperson for the DPO, Jhapa Basanta Pathak shared that those sustaining injuries in the accident were Kimari Niraual,55, Gita Ghimire, 21, Ranjita Niraula, Durga Ghimire of Baadashi Rural Municipality ward no 1, and Bishal Poudel,12 of Kachanakawal Rural Municipality-1.

All the injured ones were availing treatment at B and C Hospital at Birtamod, police said. The incident took place when a bus (Pra 1-01-001-Kha 3524) collided head-on with a van (Me 1 Cha 2226).

The van driver Uprety breathed his last during the treatment. Further investigation into the case was underway, police said.
