UML 10th Gen Convention: Deputy Gen Secy Bhusal to contest elections with Chair Oli for party chief

KATHMANDU: Deputy General Secretary Ganashyam Bhusal has hinted that he will file his candidacy for the post of chairman in the 10th General Convention of the CPN-UML.

Exchanging greetings on the occasion of Dashian, Deepawali and Chhat festivals in a gathering organized in Kathmandu on Sunday, leader Bhusal hinted that he would file his candidacy for the post of chairman in the upcoming general convention of the party. “There a clear provision that a central committee member of our party is eligible for contending elections for the post of chairman,” said Bhusal.

The Statute General Convention held recently, the UML has amended the statute paving the way for Chairman KP Sharma Oli to become the chairman once again by interpreting the age limit of 70 years.

Bhusal is one of the 10 leaders who were earlier in the Nepal-Khanal camp but remained in the UML after Madhav Nepal split the party to form CPN (Unified Socialist).

Bhusal has already started internal preparations to contest the elections for the post of chairman, UML sources have said.

Main opposition UML is holding its 10th General Convention in Butwal from November 26 to 29.
