UML lawmakers block Gandaki province assembly seeking justification over budget transfer

POKHARA: The CPN-UML, the main opposition party in Gandaki province, has blocked the Sunday’s province assembly meeting seeking justification over the budget transfer.

UML lawmakers demanded the details of budget transfer as made by the Nepali Congress led government and protested against it.

Speaker Netra Nath Adhikari adjourned the sitting after Ram Sharan Basnet, an opposition leader said his party would not allow the meeting unless their concerns were addressed. After Basnet’s remarks all UML lawmakers  stood staging protest.

Two weeks after the formation of the government, the NC-led government had transferred the budget worth Rs. 141.9 million.

The Gandaki province government had presented a budget of Rs. 30.03 billion on June 15. The discussion on the budget is scheduled start from today.
