Province No 1 unveils policy and program: ‘Clean, Happy and Prosperous Province campaign launched



BIRATNAGAR: Chief of Province No 1 Somnath Adhikari ‘Pyasi’ has introduced the policies and programs for the province for the new fiscal year 2021/22.

In Thursday’s meeting of the Province Assembly, Adhikari shared that the Provincial government had launched a campaign-Clean, Happy and Prosperous Province- which aims to establish Province No 1 as a clean and prosperous province and ensure people here are happy.

Stating that the provincial government had been mobilizing the Corona Public Security Fund and was optimizing its resources to respond to COVID-19 at its level best, Adhikari shared that the province aimed to attain 3 percent economic growth in the current fiscal year.

According to him, the province accounts for 15 percent of its share of the national economy.

He informed that that Province Public Service Commission was already established and the process of recruiting staffers for various government agencies had already made headway so as to ensure effective public service delivery.

Commercialization of the agriculture sector, construction of physical infrastructures, digitization in public offices for smooth, snap service delivery among others have been accorded high priority in the policies and program, according to Adhikari.

The province government, underscoring the promotion of the sports sector, has decided to establish Province Sports Board. Playground construction in every local unit and continuation of the sports events such as the Chief Minister and National League Football competitions among others figure the policies and programs.

A DPR study will be forwarded to set up a mega cultural museum at Pathari Sanischare in Morang district to conserve the ethnic identity of various ingenious groups residing in the Province.

Furthermore, to secure the welfare of all the ethnic communities and women, Dalit among others backward and marginalized communities, the provincial government will coordinate efforts with the constitution stipulated Commissions set up by the federal government, it was shared.

The provincial government has also underlined conservation of wetland, forests, and sources of water for which necessary multipurpose programs will be implemented, according to Adhikari.’

Aiming to bring all the households in the province under the ambit of electricity, the provincial government has rolled out the program to expand electricity in all households in the province within two years.

Furthermore, the ‘Province’s Water, Province’s Investment’ program has been mooted to promote power production in the province with the provincial government’s own fund.

The Province Assembly is meeting next on May 11 at 11:30 am.
