UML Chair Oli faction shuffles parliamentary committee members



KATHMANDU: CPN-UML chairman and Prime Minister KP Oli-led faction has recommended a change in the responsibilities of the members of the parliamentary committees.

In a letter dated April 7, CPN-UML has informed the Speaker about changes made in the parliamentary committees.

UML PM Oli faction has recommended new names for parliamentary committees, stating that members of erstwhile ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) were no longer valid after the Supreme Court (SC) verdict of March 7.

The SC verdict had annulled erstwhile ruling NCP and had announced that the two parties which formed the ruling NCP were to revive their status as CPN- UML and CPN- Maoist Center as of May, 2018.

According to UML sources, the party has recommended Khagraj Adhikari, Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel, Sher Bahadur Tamang, Lal Bahadur Thapa, Vishal Bhattarai and Shanta Chaudhary to represent and perform on behalf of the party at the Business Advisory Committee.

Meanwhile, Nirudevi Pal, Khagraj Adhikari, Vishal Bhattarai, Shanta Chaudhary and Rajendra Rai of Nepal-Khanal faction have been included in the parliamentary hearing committee.

Similarly, Gokul Baskota and Rajendra Gautam have been recommended to the Public Accounts Committee.
