Chinese embassy assists for free internet service in four community schools in Pokhara



POKHARA: Free internet service is to be provided to four community schools in Pokhara with assistance from the Embassy of China. A memorandum of understanding on the installation of the internet at schools has been signed here on Tuesday in the virtual presence of the Ambassador of China to Nepal, Hou Yanqi.

The free internet service is provided under the Rural Education Support Programme at the initiatives of the Nepal-China People’s Friendship Association.

Free internet will be installed at the Janajagriti School, Bhabisya Nirman School, and Jana Chetana School at Pokhara Metropolitan City -21 and at the Sishu Kalyan Secondary School at Pokhara-33.

Association president Bishwo Shankar Palikhe and the headteachers of the four beneficiary schools signed on the MoU.

With this, the schools will get free internet service for one year.

Similarly, solar panels and the required internet devices have also been provided to the schools. Pokhara Internet has installed the free internet facility at the four schools at a cost of two million rupees.

Ambassador Hou on the occasion said China was always ready to provide assistance for the development of education in Nepal.
