NC President Deuba underscores unity within party

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has spoken of the need to take forward the party through internal unity.

At a progam organized by the NC, Pokhara Metropolitan City-17 Unit Committee in Kaski to honor freedom fighter Lilabhakta Acharya, PM Deuba argued that no one could beat the NC if the party stands unified.

Stating that NC was on run up to the national convention, Deuba viewed that a new leadership should be elected unanimously forging unity in the party or be elected democratically in the party’s upcoming 14th national convention slated from November 25-29 in Kathmandu.

On a different note, the Prime Minister reminded freedom fighter Acharya’s longstanding contribution in the party and said that the party would always remember Acharya’s role.

Dubbing Pokhara City as the capital city of tourism in the country, Deuba expressed his concern over the adverse effects of COVID-19 on tourism in the country including the tourist hub- Pokhara.

Similarly, Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel asserted that the country was at critical juncture of time and it needed the NC’s leadership. According to him, the history had entrusted the NC with the responsibility to hold the reign of the country.

On the occasion, NC President Deuba honored freedom fighter Acharya with letter of honor and shawl. Freedom fighter Acharya donated Rs 50,000 to the NC’s Pokhara Metropolitan City-7 Unit Committee.
