MCC Veep Fatema Sumar meets Energy Minister Bhusal



KATHMANDU: Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Vice President Fatema Sumar has paid a courtesy call on Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Pampha Bhusal on Friday.

According to sources, during the meeting held at the Ministry, they discussed sustainable economic development and implementation of Rs 50 billion grant MCC project.

Stating that the MCC agreement was signed at the request of Nepal for reducing poverty and promoting sustainable socio-economic development, Vice President Sumar requested Minister Bhusal for facilitation for its implementation.

In response, Minister Bhusal said that the mutual relations between Nepal and the United States are strong and that the conclusion would be reached ensuring the political consensus.

Recalling that Nepal has taken the development process forward with the help of bilateral and multilateral donors, she expressed confidence that the US would continue its support to Nepal in the days ahead.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of Nepal and US Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry on behalf of the United States.

The agreement was signed between the MCC on behalf of the US government and the Ministry of Finance on behalf of Nepal on September 14, 2017.
