Ordinance tabled despite UML obstruction in parliament

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives got the financial ordinance tabled on Friday’s second sitting despite CPN-UML’s obstruction.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has adjourned the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) amidst the chanting of slogans by the main opposition CPN-UML.

The first meeting of the parliament was postponed due to protesting UML lawmakers Friday.

After the UML lawmakers started to disrupt the second meeting as well, Speaker Sapkota moved the proceedings of the parliament forward.

He gave time to Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) lawmaker Prem Suwal to table a proposal to reject the ordinance. Suwal refused to table any information amidst protest by the opposition.

Immediately, the Speaker gave time to Finance Minister Janardan Sharma to present the financial ordinance.

UML lawmakers chanting slogans tried to block the way of the Finance Minister. Minister Sharma ran to the rostrum and introduced the ordinance amidst the slogans of the main opposition.
