KATHMANDU: The second meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned for 15 minutes again.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota adjourned the House meeting for 15 minutes as the CPN-UML lawmakers continued to shout slogans against him.

Demanding a “satisfactory answer” from Agni Prasad Sapkota to their demands, the CPN-UML obstructed the second meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today as well.

However, the session got underway despite the obstruction.

UML members obstructed the second meeting as soon as it got underway.

Earlier, Speaker Sapkota adjourned the House for 15 minutes after lawmakers of the CPN-UML obstructed the session.

The lawmakers of the main opposition party gheraoed the rostrum shouting slogans against Speaker Agni Sapkota.

Speaker Sapkota adjourned the meeting in a bid to strike a deal on the demands put forth by the UML lawmakers.

UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai had earlier said that the House would not be allowed to function as Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has not given a satisfactory answer to their demands.

“As there is no consensus on the previous agenda, we will not allow the House to function until we get a reply. Even today, the House will be obstructed,” he said.

Earlier, UML had obstructed the House session on Wednesday as well.

UML lawmakers continued to shout slogans and obstruct the meeting despite Speaker Sapota’s repeated request to sit down and allow smooth functioning of the Parliament.

UML has been protesting against the Speaker for allegedly not taking action against the 14 defecting UML lawmakers now in Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN-Unified Socialist despite the party’s request to do so.
