Prachanda just a self-declared leader: UML leader Rayamajhi

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has said CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ was only a self-proclaimed leader.

Rayamajhi, who joined UML by deserting Maoist Center, said Prachanda’s working style had weaken the Maoist Center and they had been protesting against the same working style.

“There would have been too many parties in the last election, if the Maoists had not merged with the UML. Who was responsible for it? It is hard to find a history of a party whose head has been a self-proclaimed leader for 33 years, without adhering to any principle, method, process or system,” he said.

“Even as the party entered into peace process, the party was run in individualistic and autocratic manner and the party kept on weakening. Why did it turn weak? Because, the leadership did not pay attention to adopting principles and methods. Working style was also not better,” he said.

He added the contribution made by the Maoist Center should be appreciated and work towards eliminating weaknesses. Rayamajhi claimed that the working style of the CPN-Maoist Center was not in accordance to the Political Parties Act.
