Police arrest gangster Ganesh Lama in Pokhara

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested gangster Ganesh Lama from a hotel in Lakeside, Pokhara, Thursday.

Lama was brought to the Area Police Office, Baidam, for questioning, said DSP Subash Hamal.

Lama had gone to Pokhara to meet lawmaker Rajiv Gurung alias Deepak Manange, who was also an infamous gangster before being elected provincial parliamentarian from Manang. Reportedly Lama had gone to Pokhara to convince Manange to vote in favor of opposition alliance in the province.

Manange had lost contact after announcing his support to the opposition in Gandaki Province on Wednesday evening. Manange abstained from voting on the no-confidence motion on Thursday.

Manange’s vote in favor of opposition is likely to help them form a government.
