PM Oli seeks vote of confidence at HoR

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has sought a vote of confidence at the special session of the House of Representatives (HoR) Monday.

He urged all political parties, including the CPN Maoist Center to support his government.

PM Oli requires at least 136 votes to win the confidence motion.

The lawmakers close to Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the ruling CPN-UML have already decided to abstain from the voting.

Likewise, the Mahanta Thakur and Rajendra Mahato-led faction of the Janata Samajbadi Party has also decided to stay neutral.

Introducing a vote of confidence in the ongoing meeting of the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Oli urged the people to cast their vote of confidence on the basis of the work done by the present government.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Oli urged all political parties to stand for truth and not on the basis of disillusionment.

He said, “I am going to take a vote of confidence to prove that this House has faith in me.”

Prime Minister Oli sought a vote of confidence saying that his government had accomplished a lot – from safeguarding the country’s geographical integrity to ensuring good governance.

Prime Minister Oli also accused the opposition of falsifying his signature and spreading rumors of an agreement with the Chief of the Research and Analyses Wing. He said, “How can we sign on an unofficial document?”

Prime Minister Oli also said that the Constitution could be amended on the basis of necessity.

Stating that there was no dispute over the country’s sovereignty, he said that those who believed in secession have also joined the mainstream politics.
