Nepal-Khanal faction not to attend today’s parliament meeting

Decides not to resign

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers of the CPN-UML’s disgruntled Madhav Kumar Nepal-Jhalanath Khanal faction have decided not to attend the special session of the Parliament today.

A meeting of the faction held Monday morning decided not to attend today’s meeting, party leader Bhim Rawal said adding that they have also decided that they would not resign immediately.

A special session of parliament convened by Prime Minister Oli to seek a vote of confidence is being held this afternoon at 1 pm.

Hence, Prime Minister Oli is unlikely to receive a vote of confidence from the disgruntled faction of his own party.

Earlier today, taking to Twitter, UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Oli had urged the disgruntled faction of the party to not take any decision in haste.

Stating that the problems can be resolved through dialogue and discussion, PM Oli has urged the Nepal-Khanal faction of the party to refrain from taking any decision in a hurry.

Taking to Twitter on Monday morning, PM Oli said that any internal differences or dissatisfaction could be addressed through mutual discussion and dialogue.

“I would like to draw the attention of all the lawmakers to the fact that it is not necessary to rush into any improper decision. Let’s sit down together, discuss and solve any problems,” he has tweeted.
