Pokhara gets an oxygen bank

POKHARA: An oxygen bank has been set up in Pokhara to cope with the crisis of life-saving gas here amid the rising cases of Covid-19.

Pokhara-based seven rotaries clubs joined hands to set up the oxygen bank in coordination with the Gandaki Auto Mechanical Workshop.

Campaign coordinator Minu Kunwar said that Gandaki workshops have around 2,000 oxygen cylinders and they will be sent to oxygen gas industries to refill before supplying to hospitals.

Campaign dissemination coordinator Arjun Khanal has urged one and all not to store oxygen cylinders unnecessarily.

Anyone possessing the oxygen gas cylinder has been requested to hand it to the bank for the time being so that it could be used for those who need it the most.

“Our efforts are for addressing the potential crisis of medical oxygen when the entire country is grappling with the soaring cases of infection as we want that no patient has to die in lack of oxygen,’’ he said.

There is a high demand for oxygen gas in Pokhara that serves as the capital of Gandaki Province.
