JSP leader Mahato’s sarcasm: JSP is not born to support others

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Rajendra Mahato said his party would consider supporting the party to form the government only if their demands, including that of constitution amendment, were met.

Mahato’s remarks came as Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” urged the JSP to help his party to form a new government.

JSP leaders held a discussion with Prachanda and other Maoist leaders on the current political developments at the Maoist’s central office in Parisdanda on Wednesday.

During the meeting, JSP leader Mahato told Prachanda in a sarcastic tone: “Why do all political parties believe that we were born to support them?”

Mahato said his party has been supporting the parties thinking that they would support his party to address their concerns.

“However, no party or the government has addressed our concerns despite their commitment,” Mahato said.

The JSP has been reiterating its demand of releasing its leader Resham Chaudhary, and those who have been behind bars on various charges, among others, including the amending the constitution.
