Oli faction leader arrested on murder charge

BIRATNAGAR: Police have arrested a leader of the CPN-UML on the charge of murder in Morang on Wednesday.

CPN-UML’s Yuvaraj Banskota was arrested for allegedly murdering a 19-year-old Sandip Bhandari of Pathri Sanischare Municipality in Morang.

Banskota was made the central member of the Oli-led camp after the rift between Madhav Kumar Nepal-Prachanda and PM Oli emerged in the NCP (NCP).

Bhandari was found dead in Banskota’s house on December 29, 2020. The deceased’s family had filed a case against Banskota with the Area Police Office, Sanischare, on January 10, 2021.

Morang District Court issued an arrest warrant against Banskota on Tuesday.

The deceased’s mother said bruises could be seen on the victim’s body parts. She added that there were injury marks on the face as well.
