HoR adjourned until Tuesday after passing condolence motion



KATHMANDU: The meeting of the reinstated House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned until Tuesday passing the condolence motion on the demise of 14 former lawmakers.

After the House meeting began, lawmakers stood up from their seats and observed a minute of silence to pay  tributes to the departed soul.

Today’s meeting passed a condolence motion on the death of former and incumbent lawmakers including Sanu Sewa, Surya Bahadur KC,  Deepak Bahadur Gurung,  Dr. Ramman Shrestha, Manpur Chaudhary,  Bir Bahadur Lama,  Omkar Prasad Gauchan,  Indra Hang Limbu,  Bhim Prasad Gautam,  Kaman Singh Lama,  Ganga Dutta Jhosi, Eknath Ranabhat,  Kuber Prasad Sharma and Dr Shankar Prasad Upreti, according to the Parliament Secretariat.

The next meeting will take place at 1 pm on Tuesday.

The HoR had started at the Federal Parliament in New Baneswor at 1 pm today.

The meeting convened for the first time following the reinstatement of the HoR on Sunday was stalled following the protest by the main opposition Nepali Congress and the Janata Samajbadi Party.

The condolence motion on the demise of former lawmakers could not be passed on Sunday due to the disruption by the opposition lawmakers.

No sooner had Law Minister Lila Nath Shrestha begun to table the ordinance, NC lawmakers had started shouting slogans and gheraoed the well demanding immediate withdrawal of the ordinance.

They had demanded immediate withdrawal of the ordinances that were supposed to be presented at the reinstated House of Representatives by the government.
