Second meeting of reinstated HoR begins

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the reinstated House of Representatives (HoR) has begun at the Federal Parliament in New Baneswor.

The meeting convened for the first time following the reinstatement of the HoR on Sunday was stalled following the protest by the main opposition Nepali Congress and the Janata Samajbadi Party.

The condolence motion on the demise of former lawmakers could not be passed due to the disruption by the opposition lawmakers.

No sooner had Law Minister Lila Nath Shrestha begun to table the ordinance, NC lawmakers had started shouting slogans and gheraoed the well demanding immediate withdrawal of the ordinance.

They had demanded immediate withdrawal of the ordinances that were supposed to be presented at the reinstated House of Representatives by the government.

Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center) lawmakers had boycotted the house session Sunday arguing that the government lost its validity, and hence could not table ordinances.

The meeting scheduled for 1 pm is expected to pass a condolence motion and some ordinances, according to the parliament secretariat.
