10 Nepalis killed in Uttarakhand glacier burst identified



KATHMANDU:  Ten Nepali nationals who were killed in the floods triggered by the glacier burst in Chamoli district in the Indian State of Uttarakhand on last Sunday have been identified.

The deceased have been identified as Narendra Bahadur, Ganesh Nepali, Jagat Bahadur Nepali, Pratap Singh, Govinda Singh, Ranajit Singh, Shankar, Makar Singh, Madan Singh and Ramesh Nepali. Their identification is based on the tokens provided by their local contractor.

According to Pushpa Raj Pandey, who is coordinating with the Nepali society in Haridwar-Rishikesh region of Uttarakhand, they were working in the local road construction in Chamoli district when the disaster occurred.

Dozens of workers, including Indians and Nepali nationals had gone missing in the Dhauliganga and Alakananda river floods caused by the glacier burst.
