Prachanda-Nepal faction warns PM Oli to stop intimidating former CJs

KATHMANDU: The Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party of Nepal (NCP) has warned Prime Minister KP Oli to immediately stop intimidating four former chief justices (CJs).

A Secretariat meeting of the dissident faction held at Perisdanda in Koteswor on Sunday alleged Prime Minister Oli of insulting and threatening the former judges.

Faction’s Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that the Secretariat meeting also condemned PM Oli’s intimidating remarks against people protesting the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

Shrestha said that the meeting also appealed all sections of the society for the protection of individual freedom and constitutional rights.

He informed that the meeting also decided to “warn” Prime Minister Oli to stop undemocratic acts immediately.

The meeting also condemned PM Oli’s remarks against the dissident faction and others protesting the PM’s “authoritarian” move.

The meeting was called after Chairman of the dissident faction Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” returned to India on Saturday after the treatment of his wife Sita.

The two factions of the NCP are holding separate meetings after the dissolution of the House of Representatives on December 20.

This is the first meeting of the Secretariat of the Prachanda-Nepal faction.

The unified NCP had a nine-member Secretariat with four of the members close to Prime Minister KP Oli and four with Prachanda-Nepal faction.

However, NCP Vice Chairman and Secretariat member Bamdev Gautam has not joined any faction.
