1.5 mln doses of Moderna COVID vaccine arriving today

KATHMANDU: As many as 1.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine are arriving in Kathmandu today.

According to the Department of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Population, the Nepal government is receiving 1,498,600 doses of Moderna vaccine today under Gavi and COVAX facilities.

Similarly, 1,965,600 does of Moderna vaccine will arrive on Sunday, according to Bade Babu Thapa, the senior official at the Department of Health Services.

With this, the total number of doses of Moderna vaccine arriving in Nepal will reach 3,651,600.

Earlier, 188,000 doses of Moderna vaccine had arrived in Nepal on last Friday.

Similarly, 600,000 does of Covishield arrived yesterday, according to Thapa. The Moderna vaccines will be administered to the people below 18 years of age, the Ministry of Health and Population has informed.

A total of 19,285,197 does of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the people in Nepal.

Of them, 10,504,764 people have received the first dose while 8,780,433 have received the full dose of vaccines against COVID-19.
