JSP Chair Bhattarai argues only presidential system could ensure stability

GORKHA: Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that a stable government cannot be made in the country until the implementation of directly-elected executive presidential system.

Speaking at a program in Ghairung of Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality in Gorkha today, Dr Bhattarai said that a stable government was unlikely in the country from the existing form of governance.

Dr Bhattarai was of the view that development and prosperity won’t be achieved without a qualified person in the leadership. He also said that existing federalism is not what he actually sought for. Language, history and geographic delineation should have been considered in federalism, he argued.

On a different context, Dr Bhattarai said that reunification of the ex-Maoists is not more than an emotional aspiration adding that the past ideology of the Maoist won’t suffice in the present context.
