KATHMANDU: Amendment to the Nepali Congress statute has enabled the party to elect two General Secretary from the General Convention for the first time.
With this, the election for the two General Secretaries will start from the 14th General Convention slated for November 25 to 29 later this year. Meanwhile, conventions at various levels have started and will culminate at the central level in late November.
Earlier, the party statute provisioned for a singular general secretary in the party.
NC leaders Pradip Poudel, Gagan Thapa, and Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma have already announced their candidacies in a bid to vie for the two positions at the 14th General Convention.
